Fun Day Camp for Children Where They Can Connect with Horses

From making arts and crafts to learning about and interacting with animals, our children’s day camp in Washington is fun for the entire family. Our camp volunteers, who help the children throughout the day, and generous monetary donations from the community, make it all possible. Our organization relies on the help of our community to create a safe and fun place for children to make friends and learn about animals.

About Us

THE RAIN FOUNDATION is a nonprofit organization offering day camps for children in the Tacoma, Washington area. We wanted to give back to our community by allowing the local children to come and connect with our horses. We offer friendship and healing to children with or without a disability through fun activities and horsemanship lessons (an extra add-on you can purchase for $20). The camp is free for children of all ages. If you are looking for an opportunity to perform community service in Tacoma, Washington, you can also apply to volunteer as a camp counselor.

Our organization was established in 2014 after the mother of our owner, Vickie, passed away. Our family has two disabled children, and we want to help children of all ages and abilities and make an impact on the lives of children in the community.

Our nonprofit is a family affair. Terry, Vickie’s youngest son, suggested bringing in volunteers, and David came up with the idea to name our nonprofit after our horse, Rain – an abandoned horse that our family fell in love with. Vickie’s oldest son, David, said that Rain has spoken to him, asking him to take the horse home. It was a day that our family will never forget.
